Congressman Thomas Kean Jr.
75 Claremont Road, Suite 206
Bernardsville, NJ 07924

Congressman Kean,

We the undersigned are current and former elected officials in the 7th Congressional District.

We all believe that ensuring safety is the greatest responsibility and first priority of the government.

President Trump recently pardoned the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol and viciously assaulted police officers in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election. The attack resulted in the death of five officers and injuries of many others. The President's actions undermine the responsibility to maintain safety l and further embolden those who would use violence to advance a political agenda.

We respectfully request that you demonstrate your support for the safety of our communities and our law enforcement officers by publicly denouncing the President's actions.

We know better than most that we can and should have robust discussion and disagreement about other matters of policy. But we hope that with your help we can establish a baseline upon which we can all agree that political violence has no place in this district or in this country.

Respectfully submitted,
